Located on the northern section of the island, with a surface area of 30,09 Km 2, at an altitude of 525m, it has a population of 21 778. It is at a road distance of 20 Km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

To the northwest it limits with La Laguna , to the south with El Rosario and to the east with El Sauzal.

The coastline, open in the northwest, shows high cliffs, at the foot of which nestle some small beaches: Mesa del Mar, El Pris, del Camello, that coincide with the mouth of the canyons.
